Dr. Jamil Mahuad Witt.

Jamil Mahuad WittDr. Mahuad was born in Loja, Ecuador on July 29th, 1949. He received a degree in Political and Social Science from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador; a Ph.D. in Jurisprudence from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (1979); and an MA in Public Administration from Harvard University.

He has occupied the positions of Mayor of Quito, 1992-1996 /1996-2000, Congressman of the Republic of Ecuador for the province of Pichincha (1986-1988) and (1990-1992), and Minister-Secretary of State for Labor and Human Resources in the Government of President Oswaldo Hurtado (April 1983- August 1984).

Furthermore, Dr. Mahuad has also been Vice President of the Christian Democratic Organization of America (ODCA) (1991-1993), and of the Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities (UCCI).

He has also been a Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, Legal Advisor and Credit Manager of various Quito Banking Institutions (1973-1978); Professor of the Colegio San Gabriel, of the Universidad Católica and of the Centro de Ejecutivos, and Vice President for the Andean Area of the Christian Democratic Organization of America (ODCA) (1991-1993). He was subsequently reelected to this post for the 1993-1995 and 1995-1997 periods.
